When Good Teachers Go Bad

Many of us have had excellent teachers growing up.  Fantastic learning environments.  Healthy student-teacher relationships that helped us grow into the happy adults we are today.  But what about when that relationship becomes twisted?  What about when that person you respected has an ulterior motive?

It has been stated over and over again that Robert Adams is well-loved and respected as a teacher and principal.  So much so that it is impossible for him to have committed the crimes he is being accused of.  They have said, "But look at all the people standing behind him.  Have you ever seen a true pedophile have such an outpouring of parent and student support?" Sadly, the answer is yes.  Over the next few days we will highlight several cases where there was a well-loved, respected teacher or person of power and access to children who has been charged with sexual abuse of children.  Just a few days ago on the school Facebook site, the infamous BG states:
[Name Removed], you make an excellent point. How awesome that your son had the courage to tell the officer that the gun in his face was making him uncomfortable! It occurred to me after reading your comment, that you hit a very important point. The whole philosophy and culture of CFS, what makes it so valuable to parents and children there, past and present, is that it's all about growing children to be authentic and respectable/respectful. People who live by that paradigm and raise their children that way, or run a school that way, do so in order for their kids to be stronger in character and more courageous so they DON'T become victims. They don't then turn around and molest the kids! You either raise kids to be victims, intentionally or unintentionally, or you take the higher road and specifically teach them otherwise.

I can't help but find it almost funny that those who don't really understand the value of the school, probably were pretty surprised when so many parents didn't just immediately believe the molestation allegations, and instead, supported Bob and the school. It's certainly not because the parents are half-wits as some would like everyone to believe, it's because they recognize that higher road of education, respect, and decency. Most people probably have never even experienced such a thing at their child's school. I know I hadn't before I found CFS for my kids. And it's certainly taken a lot of hard work for the City and DA to scrape up enough recruited victims to keep this farce going, and the only question left is why?

I think now is an excellent time for each and every parent, parent of previous students, previous students themselves, and concerned citizens to write to the governor and media as [PSP] suggested in her post below. It's time for the State and media to thoroughly investigate those who have blatantly violated an exceptional and dedicated educator, human being, and family man, his family, his school, and all the staff, students, and parents, and to hold them accountable for their actions before this goes any further. California can not afford to spend a fortune on a manufactured molestation claims trial, nor can it afford to lose the value of the progress CFS has made in child education.
Get ready for an eyeopener.  It isn't surprising that parents supported Mr. Adams when the allegations first surfaced.  What is surprising is that many parents continue argue inane points that are insulting to many different groups of people.  Please read and learn about these other cases where the truth has been uncovered by seemingly fantastic teachers.

I suppose my title is kind of a misnomer.  The teachers we will be featuring never were good.  They just fooled the masses into thinking they were.

Rob Mocarsky wasn't your everyday Kindergarten teacher. He was nationally recognized, winning the National Educator Award of 2004 with a prize of $25,000 (didn't someone mention Mr. Adams winning a very similar title?), and had been nominated several times for Maine's Teacher of the Year Award. He was known for his innovative teaching techniques and devotion to his Kindergarteners. He used his special methods over the course of  nineteen years at schools throughout New England and even took his skills to Russia to work with the Peace Corps for two years. It was there that he met his wife with whom he had two young daughters. They returned to New England and he continued using a curriculum for Kindergarteners which engaged them in a job enactment exercise. It was called "Pretend Play."  If a child wanted to try out being a mail carrier, chef, police officer, doctor, etc., Mr. Mocarsky had all the right props. That's primarily what won him that coveted prize.

The only problem was that there was a see-through curtain where the children changed. According to a number of parents, the children stripped down to their underwear to don the outfits. Seems Mr. Mocarsky also took photos, and not just of the dressed children. He was accused of  "engaging in lascivious displays of their genitals," according to an affidavit filed by Maine State Police. One of the other options, for young female students, was to dress up as a French maid. That costume raised concerns of parents and even elicited a letter or two to his supervisors. Seems he also had a habit of taking some Kindergarteners on outings with limited chaperoning, according to parents' comments at several news sources, including the Bangor Daily News where one parent is quoted as saying,
"This is my child's hero; this is my child's favorite teacher,'" he said. "This is a well-thought-of, well-regarded, nationally recognized teacher..." (Sound familiar?)
Not every one agreed. Several parents stepped forward and said that their complaints had fallen on deaf ears. They started comparing notes with parents at other schools and the story was the same. Once there were too many questions, Mocarsky moved on. Once, in 1998, police thought that they'd caught Mocarsky. Parents had reported inappropriate undressing and photography but the photographs disappeared. The evidence wasn't strong enough for a trial. Finally, in Jackman, there was plenty evidence to bring charges in January 2011. It didn't take long for Mr. Mocarsky to see the writing on the wall. In June 2011, Mocarsky stated that he'd like to avoid a trial, if possible, "partly to prevent children from having to testify..." How good of the man. He wanted to spare the children pain. Shame that didn't happen a couple of decades ago. Rob Mocarsky pleaded guilty.

The Bangor Daily News reported:

"The prosecution version of events to which Mocarksy pleaded guilty revealed details about the nature of the photographs, discovered in December 2010 after a parent complained to the principal that her 5-year-old daughter had been photographed inappropriately while the girl was dressed in a mini-skirt and halter top."
But Mocarksy didn't stop there,
"Investigators found photographs on an external hard drive at Mocarsky’s home that showed four girls, referred to in the prosecution version as Minors A, B, C and D, “engaging in lascivious displays of their genitals.
The Bangor Daily News goes on to report:
"Two of the girls were photographed in bikinis with the bottoms wedged in private areas, according to court documents. Mocarsky had the two others dress in fairy costumes — one blue, the other pink — without their underwear."

Mocarsky is free on bail as he awaits sentencing. He faces 15-30 years in federal prison.

Now, as much as we have said the case with Robert Adams and Creative Frontiers is NOT McMartin, it is also not the same as the Mocarsky case.  However, this is one of MANY cases where a well-respected teacher or principal has been convicted or plead guilty to sexual abuse charges.  Of course no one suspected these teachers of being pedophiles.  They were masters at covering up their crimes.

  1. Very interesting indeed!

Have you learned anything further about the "opening date" of CFS? Have they made any statements as to IF or WHEN that is to be, or is it now a moot point, since all their lies and deception have been exposed?

  2. The last information I have seen was the letter to Zsolt Benedek from the City of Citrus Heights telling him in no uncertain terms that you cannot have a business license for both Creative Frontiers, LLC and Creative Frontiers, Inc at the same location. They have to drop one of the attempts to regain the license.

That letter can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/yyt2q5xbgyt7p1r/City%20of%20CH%20Business%20file.pdf

  3. I'm just curious what is taking them so long to just choose a name?

Great post on the case, by the way--it is something the supporters really do need to consider. I don't know if he's guilty or not, but what if he is?

I don't believe at this point the issue is in choosing a name rather it is in the attempts of Adams/Benedek to properly fill out the city of Citrus Heights paperwork without having issues and allowing the process to do what it needs to do.
