Why Woodbine is not CFS

It seems tiresome that I have to explain this yet again, but some people are still not getting it.  The infamous PSP posted to the Creative Frontiers School Facebook Page:

Also seems to me,Christian, that Sandi Adams, co-owner of Creative Frontiers, also got the short end of the stick when the police shut down the whole school over malicious allegations against just Mr. Bob, leaving her financially ruined forever as well. I've never heard of a whole school being raided, shut down and closed indefinately due to the alleged conduct of one person. Below is a post from the Sacramento Bee, Oct 26, 2011 Region Section page 2 that states exactly the opposite of what they did to Bob Adams, Sandi Adams and CFS at another preschool in Sacramento. You will see that there are no names given, no definition of what the 'inappropriate allegation' was, the school was not raided and shut down indefinately, no comments made by district officials and other unsimilarities. What gives? Title: SACRAMENTO, Inappropriate conduct by preschool worker alleged.

An employee in the preschool program at Woodbine Elementary School was removed from the campus Wednesday morning following allegations that the individual engaged in inappropriate conduct.

District spokesman Gabe Ross said the allegations were made Wednesday morning, and district officials immediately placed the employee on administrative leave and contacted police. Ross declined to comment on the nature of the alleged conduct or the employee's position in the program.

Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Andrew Pettit said the department has initiated an investigation to determine whether any crime was committed. District officials said they will work closely with police.

Ross said 23 students are enrolled in the preschool program at the school at 2500 52nd Ave.

Families of Woodbine students and school staff members were notified of the incident.

The article referred to can be read at this link in it's entirety.  So here goes.  Let me explain it slowly since some are still not getting it.  As has been said NUMEROUS times before, Creative Frontiers School was a private preschool and elementary.  The preschool program at Woodbine Elementary is a state-run program through the Sacramento City Unified School District. Their goal from the district website:

Our district’s first goal is “Readiness for Kindergarten”.  In order to help achieve this goal, the SCUSD Child Development Department offers free or subsidized full day child care and free part day preschool programs for income eligible families.  These programs provide appropriate learning experiences and comprehensive student support services for preschoolers to ensure their smooth transition into kindergarten.

This is COMPLETELY different than a privately owned preschool.  In addition, it is one employee that is involved in the allegations/investigation.  In the case of Creative Frontiers, it is the owner.  This is no different than if it were an in-home daycare.
As for Mrs. Adams, yes, she is not listed as any part of the complaint.  Yes, she is co-license holder.  But as the co-owner she would also be responsible for keeping the school in good operating condition, which it clearly was not.  The allegations of molestation aside, the condition of the school was also a factor in the school closing.  So, as co-owner, she is partly to blame for the state of the school.  There have been MANY cases where a wife looses her in-home daycare license due to the actions of her husband who may or may not be on the license.  It is unfortunate, but not unusual.

I just can't have much sympathy for her given the condition of the school, when there were teachers, who from all available information, were doing the best they could with what they were given and are completely without income now.  Sure they can pick up unemployment, but their resume's are forever tarnished by this as well.  I can't help but notice the recent disappearance of two former teachers from the CFS Facebook page in the last few days.  I can't blame them from wanting to distance themselves from the ignorance being spouted from a few supporters.  I wish all the teachers the best and sincerely hope they have been able to move on and find employment elsewhere.

  1. I should also note that the only thing that has been told to the media is that the employee at Woodbine was removed for "inappropriate conduct". That could mean something as simple as saying something inappropriate, or it could be much more. It is also important to note this sentence, "district officials immediately placed the employee on administrative leave and contacted police". By the time the police were involved, the district had already removed the employee. Simply put, the circumstances and situation are not the same.

  2. And yet again someone brings up lawsuits:

"That just reeks of a serious injustice. Looks like when all is said and done, the Adams' family has a hefty lawsuit they, THEMSELVES, need to file. I am so sorry for the suffering they're enduring over this."

A hefty lawsuit? For what? Who are they going to sue? The city of Citrus Heights for insisting that they have the buildings up to code? The police for investigating some very serious allegations from several different sources? All of you "anonymous bloggers" for posting documents that show the truth instead of the crap lies they were telling? Me for posting this comment?

Give me a break. These people are unreal.

  3. It is painfully obvious that this situation is different. But I have a feeling your effort to get the message through to them is like talking to a child with their fingers in their ears and saying "La La La La La"...

Public vs. Private... Employee vs. Private Owner. The In-Home day care analogy is best. If this was an In-Home day care and these allegations were brought against the license holder the place would be shut down immediately, without question.

PSP, BG et al. will never accept the painful truth.

  4. Why let facts get in the way of a good story. I am tired of the ignorant and cruel remarks that are coming from people who did not even have kids at the school when this all went down. On a separate note, I am glad you mentioned the teachers in this piece. It is very sad for me to see such talented and dedicated people out of work. Keep in mind, there has been no outreach or support for the teachers from the CFS "supporters". This is yet another reason I can't support CFS.
