Court Hearing Tomorrow

Tomorrow marks the 5th court appearance for Robert Adams.  Maybe we will be surprised and the scheduled settlement conference will commence instead of asking for another continuance.  His family members claim to have seen the discovery, so I would assume his attorney, Linda Parisi DOES indeed have it as well.

To refresh your memory, and mine, tomorrow's hearing is called a "settlement conference".  This means that the District Attorney and the defense attorney will sit down together and attempt to work out a plea to keep the case from going to trial.  This is mandatory for all criminal cases.  If indeed this happens instead of asking for another continuance, and no agreement is reached, the case will then be scheduled for a preliminary hearing.  This is basically a "mini-trial".  This is basically all on the prosecution to "prove" they have evidence warranting a full trial.  If the judge deems that there is, then the case moves on to yet another settlement conference in an attempt to reach a plea deal.  If none is reached, then the case goes to a full trial.  In some cases the preliminary hearing is waved by the defense.  At some point, I'm pretty sure Mr. Adams will have to enter a plea with regards to the charges.

I will update here as soon as I hear anything.

By the way, did anyone know he was arrested in 1991 as well?  The case appears to have been eventually dismissed, and the charges are odd to say the least.  The misdemeanor charges were for California Penal Code 487 which is grand theft.  It includes everything from 487(a) which refers to stealing and/or transporting dead bovine and other farm animal carcasses, to 487(d) which is theft of a firearm.  It encompasses every kind of grand theft. I do not know which of these he was charged with exactly.  He was arrested in October 1991 and the case went on and appears to have eventually been dismissed in November of 1992.  It doesn't really mean anything with regards to the current case, but I found it odd.

  1. Almost certain it would have stemmed from a dead animal carcass. At one point in time they did have some farm animals in pens adjacent to the pre-school area. I clearly remember them having a pig, some chickens and either a goat or a lamb. Not so surprising to say the least

  2. I expect him to keep dragging this out so that he can enjoy the holidays with his family. The victims will be kept waiting for justice. Saw a new CFS FB post again referring to CFS knowing who owes them money. Once again I believe they know the families they need to reimburse too but now are saying most businesses that close don't issue refunds. See ya in small claims court then!! This information is being provided by one of the more vocal CFS supporters but not the Adams' girls, to be clear.

  3. No idea which form of grand theft he was charged with, but anyone who is interested can look up the case summary here: https://services.saccourt.ca.gov/indexsearchnew/Disclaimer.aspx

What is available online is limited due to the date.

  4. Since the school was operating "illegally" from May 1, to July 18 when they shut it down, I would think they owe each and every parent a refund... afterall, they were operating fraudulently and that would be grounds to sue as well.
I wonder if there were any "health issues" at the time of the previous arrest?

  5. I was also considering seeking a refund for the months they were operating without a license.

  6. While the documents seem to suggest that they did not have a license between May and July, please consider that they might have been offered some sort of extension from the city. It is clear that they denied the renewal, but not clear when the license actually expired. There could have been some overlap. If indeed you want to attempt to seek a refund for this period of time, I encourage you to speak to the city of Citrus Heights directly to see if this is the case.

  7. Doubting- I think what you are referring to is that one of the Adams girls said that they have seen all of the discovery (thus far.) To my knowledge all discovery has not been turned over therefor another continuance is probably what will happen. I don't think the judge would continue to allow Mrs. Parisi continuances if there were no reason to grant them. She specifically says in court to the judge that she is awaiting all the discovery. The DA is standing right there as well.

  8. This all sounds like a cop-out to me. I just can't understand why he doesn't plead "NOT GUILTY" whether they have all the discovery or not. Makes me think they are waiting to see if they have all the "goods" or not. If they truly do not have the discovery, wouldn't a telephone call suffice? Ridiculous!

  9. Adams asked for and got another two months of freedom this morning. Fifth court appearance and the atty said she had all the discovery, but still no NOT GUILTY plea? And the victims wait longer for justice.

  10. You must remember that this is a first class coward, the man had plenty to say at one point in time....Things haven't worked out so well for Mr.Bob as of late. I've said it before and will say it again, the very last thing Bob wants to do is take the stand and have to answer questions under oath. All one has to do is read between the lines, when it comes time to step up to the plate and do the right thing,Robert Benson Adams has a long history of ducking and dodging. Within my own personal interest I want nothing more than to hear him explain himself ...in doing so he'll cheat me out of ever having questions I would love to have answered just as he cheated my child of ever having fond memories of hr grade school years ..........what a charleton.

  11. Anonymous at 7:03AM. Yes, I am referring to comments made by the Adams girls. I think that if the DA has indeed failed to hand over the discovery, then the judge needs to deal with that and force them to hand it over. If Parisi is just playing a game, then the judge needs to deal with that also. It seems silly to keep continuing and continuing. It is costing everyone money. Mr. Adams and taxpayers. The Adams family has been less than truthful in this whole matter so I have a hard time believing a lot of what is said by any of them.
